Location Information (Optional, Processed On Your Controller)

If you choose to enable location-based features in the mobile app and grant location permissions, your device and in-home controller may process limited location-related information for geofencing and presence detection. This includes the use of background location services to detect when you enter or leave your home geofence even when the app is closed or not in use.

  • Home geofence region parameters (e.g., home latitude/longitude and radius) stored on your in-home controller and provided to the mobile app to configure geofencing
  • Geofence entry/exit signals sent from your device to your in-home controller
  • Derived presence state (home/away) and a local history of entry/exit events stored on your in-home controller

Data Sovereignty: DOM-OS does not collect, store, or transmit your device’s precise location or movement history to our cloud servers. All location-based processing happens locally between your mobile device and your in-home controller. The mobile app uses background location permissions strictly to detect entering or exiting a configured region to enable presence-based alerts and automations.

  • Push notification token and device identifier used to deliver notifications (e.g., via Expo)
  • App version and basic device/platform information

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain our home automation services
  • Process and fulfill installation requests

  • Enable optional presence-based features (e.g., alerts when everyone leaves home while devices are still running)

Data Sharing and Disclosure

  • Payment processors for billing purposes
  • Third-party device manufacturers when necessary for integration
  • Push notification service providers solely to deliver notifications to your device

We do not sell your personal information. Location-based presence data is processed and stored on your in-home controller and is not shared with advertisers.

In-Home Controller and Local Processing

DOM-OS services are typically delivered through a dedicated in-home controller installed at your premises. The mobile app primarily communicates with your controller to operate devices and enable automations. If you enable location-based presence, geofence signals are used to determine home/away status on your controller and to generate related alerts.

Your Choices and Controls

  • You can decline location permissions when prompted, or disable them later in your device settings (location-based features will not function).
  • Location-based features are optional and can be disabled for your account/controller upon request during or after installation.
  • You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal information as described below.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide and support our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Location-based presence (if enabled) is stored on your in-home controller. This includes a local history of entry/exit events (timestamps and region transitions) required for automation logic. This data remains on your local controller and is not synchronized to the cloud; DOM-OS does not retain your device’s precise location.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Regular security assessments and updates
  • Access controls and authentication measures
  • Employee training on data protection
